PETALING JAYA: A 24-year-old soldier died this morning after he was thrown off a flyover at the Terminal Bersepadu Selatan (TBS) in Kuala Lumpur and landed on another motorcyclist whose motorcycle was subsequently hit by a lorry.
Kuala Lumpur traffic police chief Zamzuri Isa said the accident occurred on the Middle Ring Road 2 at about 8.04am.
He said the soldier, who was riding a Honda Wave from his home in Bukit Jalil to the Sungai Besi camp, was believed to have lost control of his motorcycle on the flyover sliproad while making a U-turn.
“The man was thrown off the flyover onto the road below, while his motorcycle remained on the flyover," Zamzuri said in a statement.
“He landed on a 46-year-old man riding a Honda Vario motorcycle from Cheras towards Sungai Besi, causing both men to fall onto the road.
"At the same time, an Isuzu lorry driven by a 46-year-old man tried to avoid the two men but ended up crashing into the Honda Vario motorcycle."
Zamzuri said the soldier suffered severe head and body injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The Honda Vario rider suffered a broken left arm, facial injuries and bleeding in the head. He was taken to Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz for further treatment. The lorry driver was unharmed,” he added.
Zamzuri said the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
Photos of the accident went viral on social media after another road user posted images of the aftermath on Threads.
