Manchester United again failed to collect three points. The English Premier League's traditional powerhouse took the lead away at Leeds United but conceded an equalizer early in the second half and settled for a 1-1 draw. It was the team's fifth straight league match without a win.
United drew 1-1 with Leeds in a Round 7 away match of the 2026-27 EPL season at Elland Road in Leeds, England, on the 18th. The club had to be content with a single point and slipped to 13th in the league, falling a step behind in the mid-table race.
The match came alive in the middle of the first half. In the 26th minute, Leeds came close to opening the scoring with a header from Ibrahim Elbedi off a free-kick set piece, but Senne Lammens made the save. A minute later, United's Bryan Mbeumo met an early cross from Youri Tielemans with his head, but the ball drifted wide of the right post.
United struck first. In the 35th minute, Tielemans delivered a low, fast cross from the right flank, and Mbeumo threw himself at it to force the ball into the net. Trafford reacted but was too late to cover the angle.
United's lead did not last long. Six minutes into the second half, Muharemovic headed down a corner kick and the ball fell to Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who finished calmly to level the score.
United could not take their chance to regain the lead. In the 65th minute, Bruno collected the ball inside the penalty box and shot boldly, but the effort went past the right post.
Late on, it was Leeds who let a win slip away. One minute into second-half stoppage time, in a scramble in front of the United goal, Stach seized a second ball and struck a shot that went through Lammens' legs, but Noussair Mazraoui cleared it in front of the goal line to prevent the goal. The four minutes of added time elapsed and the match ended 1-1.
Immediately after the final whistle, British media leveled sharp criticism at manager Michael Carrick. The Guardian said another unconvincing performance had come under Carrick, adding that with an unfamiliar formation there was no rhythm or control in the match, and a sense of unease persisted that the team could collapse at any moment.
The outlet also offered a critical view of Carrick's future, asking how much longer he can hold on, even though he has avoided being sacked for now.
