Senate President Miloš Vystrčil (ODS) has announced that senators will prepare a petition to the Constitutional Court seeking to overturn parts of the Civil Service Act.
The lower house this week overrode President Petr Pavel's veto of the legislation, which the ruling coalition says should make it easier to replace civil servants by bringing their employment conditions closer to those in the regular labour market.
In his veto justification, Pavel argued that the law runs counter to the European Commission's recommendation to provide senior civil servants with greater protection against political interference.
