With a busy calendar of royal engagements, it’s no wonder the Princess of Wales is a fan of rewearing failsafe looks. It’s this practical (and sustainable) approach to official-duty dressing that sees her return to her favourite British labels time after time, with Emilia Wickstead, Burberry and Alexander McQueen in her forever wardrobe rotation. Case in point: this afternoon, when Catherine welcomed the Sultan of Oman to Windsor Castle, she wore a much-loved Alexander McQueen coat, accessorized with a classic quilted Chanel bag.

The Princess of Wales was first seen wearing the “squashed” bag back in the spring, when she carried a crumpled Chanel flap bag to the enthronement ceremony for Dame Sarah Mullally, co-signing one of the season’s most talked-about trends in the process. Today, the investment accessory paired perfectly with her bottle-green coat, previously worn at the Irish Guards’ St Patrick’s Day parade.

Her appearance marks the first day of the Sultan of Oman’s three-day state visit, with many more royal wardrobe moments to come. Recently, Catherine has favored a more casual approach, stepping out in Barbour jackets and Me+Em knitwear, but with a busy week of official engagements ahead, we can expect to see her formal looks—care of those trusty British brands—back in the spotlight.
