This is actually the specific liner makeup artist Ash K. Holm used on Khloé Kardashian above. The color is rich, but it still has enough red undertones that the shade is firmly burgundy, not plum or espresso brown. Although it’s called a “satin” liner, the color goes on matte. But it has a creamy feel that just glides onto your waterline or skin. In fact, burgundy waterlines are on the upswing, according to makeup artist Dani Parkes. Pair it with a burgundy lipstick for a monochrome look, or a brown mascara to soften the eyes.

If you hate sharpening, try this burgundy eyeliner from Essence (which is only $5, btw). The twist-up gel eyeliner has a blendable formula that’s great for smudging out into a smokey eye. The added built-in smudger brush helps with this too.
This shimmery liner makes for a great all-over burgundy eye look that won’t budge or crease. The formula is meant to be smudged around, so you’ve got some playtime before it fully sets. Just draw it on your lids, then smoke it out with your finger or a brush. After about 40 seconds, it’ll set down and won’t move (truly, I got more than eight hours out of this liner at a music festival).

Although the brand named it “Unrestricted Plum,” I’d definitely call this shade burgundy, just with slightly more purple undertones that I think look especially fantastic on green and brown eyes. Thankfully, though, they were very right on the “24-hour, waterproof” claim, as this is easily the longest-lasting liner in my collection. Whether I put it on my eyelids, waterline, or lower lash line, this stays put until I wash it off. In London recently, I accidentally slept with my makeup on (do as I say, not as I do!), and my eyeliner still looked perfect the next morning.
