KUALA LUMPUR: Schools in Johor, Melaka, Negri Sembilan and Putrajaya will be closed tomorrow due to the haze, said Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek.
In a notice posted on social media, Fadhlina said the closure on Oct 13 would also cover schools under the Hulu Langat, Petaling Perdana, Kuala Langat and Sepang District Education Offices (PPD) in Selangor, as well as the Kuantan and Rompin PPDs in Pahang.
"Schools in Kuala Lumpur, Labuan, Kedah, Kelantan, Perlis, Penang, Perak, Terengganu, Sabah and Sarawak will operate as usual," she said.
Schools in other districts in Selangor and Pahang not covered by the closure would also continue operating as usual.
"For schools operating as usual, school authorities are requested to ensure that outdoor activities are monitored according to current air quality conditions," she said.
Fadhlina also advised parents, students and school staff to wear appropriate face coverings when outdoors, particularly in areas affected by the haze.
"All parties are requested to follow official announcements from their respective school authorities, PPD and State Education Department to stay updated," she added.
