G6's contribution formed part of a combined reward of US$150,000 distributed to the Scottland squad. Club owner Pedzai "Scott" Sakupwanya provided the bulk of the payout at US$100,000, with G6 adding the remaining US$50,000.
Chivayo family's history with Scottland FC
The Chivayo family's relationship with Scottland FC predates G6's latest gesture. Wicknell Chivayo, a prominent Zimbabwean businessman who died in a helicopter crash along with his wife, had been one of the club's most prominent financial supporters. During his lifetime, he gave the club a US$300,000 boost to support their football ambitions and awarded the squad US$50,000 after they won the Independence Cup.
G6's decision to honour the tradition suggests the family's financial backing of the club will continue despite Wicknell's passing.
Billiat and Musona Inspire Key Win
On the pitch, Scottland delivered a composed performance against a Petro de Luanda side that was reduced to ten men for much of the match. Former Warriors winger Khama Billiat opened the scoring in the 66th minute, then assisted Knowledge Musona, who added a second goal with roughly ten minutes remaining.
Following Wicknell's death, his uncle Herbert Chivayo addressed concerns about the distribution of the businessman's estate. He confirmed that Wicknell had intended for his children to inherit most of his wealth, and assured mourners that extended family members would not interfere with that arrangement.
