The New York Giants finally brought their latest addition to the quarterback room, J.J. McCarthy, onto the field on Sunday, when the team was down big against the New Orleans Saints.
McCarthy stepped in for veteran quarterback Jameis Winston at MetLife Stadium. When McCarthy took the field, the Giants were down 34-10 to begin the fourth quarter, but he had a solid showing and helped the team inch closer to a possible win. The Giants did eventually lose to the Saints, 34-27, but seeing McCarthy bring the team closer to a win at the very end has people wondering if he'll be tapped to be the starter soon.
John Harbaugh offers a telling response about the New York Giants' quarterback situation going into Texans game
During a presser on Monday, a reporter asked Giants head coach John Harbaugh about the team's quarterback situation. His answer was telling.
"We're working through that now, honing in on a decision," Harbaugh said, according to Paul Schwartz of The New York Post.
Equally telling, Harbaugh said the team had not yet decided who would start in its upcoming game, so McCarthy could end up being tapped to start.
During McCarthy's time with the Vikings, he notched 1,632 passing yards, 11 touchdowns and 12 interceptions in 10 games. He also recorded 181 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns on 37 carries, according to his ESPN stats.
The Giants' record dropped to 3-2-1 after Sunday's loss, but that doesn't mean the season is over for them. Their next chance for a win comes Sunday against the Houston Texans.
