Saudi Arabia Reportedly Uses $12 Million THAAD Interceptors Against Houthi Missiles Costing $1 Million Each
Saudi Arabia is reportedly deploying expensive THAAD missile interceptors, estimated to cost around $12 million each, to counter Houthi cruise and ballistic missiles reportedly costing approximately $1 million apiece.
The reported interceptions come amid escalating Houthi attacks targeting Saudi infrastructure, including airports and oil refineries, raising concerns about the growing financial burden of air defense operations.
Saudi Arabia is also reportedly facing serious shortages of Patriot interceptor missiles, potentially increasing its reliance on other air defense systems to protect critical infrastructure.
The situation highlights a major cost imbalance in modern warfare, where defending against relatively inexpensive missiles can require interceptors costing many times more.
