Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane has revealed that his family is anxious to know the outcome of the 2026 Ballon d’Or ahead of Monday’s ceremony in London.
The England captain spoke about the uncertainty surrounding the prestigious individual award after Bayern’s 2-2 UEFA Champions League draw with Arsenal.
Kane, who is among the leading contenders following an impressive 2025-26 season, admitted that his wife would prefer to know the result before the ceremony.
“My wife would prefer to know the result now, and my family is very nervous,” Kane said, according to a post by Fabrizio Romano on X on Friday.
“I understand France Football wishes to keep silent so that all the stars can attend, but from my point of view, of course I would like to know the result without having to wait all evening. I will surely enjoy the evening.”
The 2026 Ballon d’Or ceremony is scheduled for Monday, October 26, at the London Palladium, marking the first time the event will be held outside Paris.
The ceremony also coincides with the 70th anniversary of the award and honours Sir Stanley Matthews, the Englishman who won the inaugural Ballon d’Or in 1956.
Kane heads into the event after a record-breaking 2025-26 campaign in which he scored 73 goals for club and country, helping Bayern secure a domestic double while also delivering strong performances for England.
His achievements have put him in contention to become the first English winner since Michael Owen in 2001 and Bayern Munich’s first since Karl-Heinz Rummenigge more than four decades ago.
Other leading contenders include Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal, Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappé and last year’s winner, Ousmane Dembélé.

Although Kane has played down talk of the individual prize while focusing on Bayern’s ongoing campaign, he admitted that the constant speculation has been difficult to avoid.
“I try not to think about it. Obviously it is hard not to. There are always rumours and stuff flying around so you try to stay away from it,” he added.
“We’ll have to just enjoy it and try not to stress out too much.”
With the votes already cast and the result kept under wraps, Kane and his family will have to wait until Monday evening to discover whether he will claim the award.
