Praia de Nossa Senhora da Rocha in Porches is one of the most beautiful spots in the Algarve, particularly famous for its little white chapel, Capela de Nossa Senhora da Rocha, standing on top of the cliffs overlooking the ocean.

What makes this place even more special is that you can visit two beaches in one day. Praia de Nossa Senhora da Rocha and the neighbouring Praia Nova are connected by a tunnel carved through the rock, so you can easily walk from one beach to the other.
The beaches are both bordered by remarkable golden cliffs, but they have rather different vibes. Praia de Nossa Senhora da Rocha is a smaller and more sheltered beach, whereas Praia Nova has a longer stretch of sand and has a somewhat more secluded feel.

Whenever I go to Praia de Nossa Senhora da Rocha before the summer begins I notice how many beautiful seashells there are on the shore; some of them are rather large and they vary in shape.
If you get hungry, there are also some lovely places to eat nearby. Restaurante Vilarinho is located directly on Praia de Nossa Senhora da Rocha and is known for its fresh fish, seafood and traditional Portuguese dishes. Another option is Restaurante Belmondo, an Italian restaurant above the cliffs, with a terrace overlooking the sea.

And after spending the day on the beach, I definitely recommend taking a short walk up to the chapel. The views from the cliffs are beautiful, especially around sunset, when it's a lovely place to finish the day.
Best for: Beach lovers, families, beautiful coastal views, photography, sunset walks and anyone who enjoys discovering quieter beaches.
