Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty has discussed the latest regional developments and efforts to ease tensions with Pakistani Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar during a telephone conversation.
In a post on social media platform X, Abdelatty said the two ministers exchanged views on ways to de-escalate regional tensions and strengthen coordination between their countries amid ongoing regional challenges.
The discussions also focused on enhancing joint diplomatic efforts ahead of an upcoming meeting of foreign ministers of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), which provides a platform for member states to discuss issues of common concern and coordinate their positions on regional and international developments.
The planned OIC meeting is expected to provide an opportunity for member states to consult on key issues affecting the region and explore ways to strengthen cooperation through diplomatic engagement.
Egypt and Pakistan, both members of the OIC, maintain diplomatic relations and engage in consultations on matters of mutual interest. Their latest exchange underscores the importance of continued dialogue and coordination among Muslim-majority countries as they seek to address regional challenges.
The phone call comes amid broader diplomatic efforts to contain tensions and encourage peaceful solutions to regional disputes. Both countries have an interest in promoting stability through dialogue and cooperation, particularly as regional developments remain a key concern for governments across the Middle East and South Asia.
No further details about specific issues raised during the conversation or the timing and agenda of the upcoming OIC foreign ministers' meeting were provided in the statement.
