Thousands gathered at the venue on October 15, 2026, to honour the memory of the veteran politician. Many had arrived by 6 am, filling the grounds with song and dance as police officers guided crowds into their designated areas.
A Black Mamba Bicycle Like No Other
Among the mourners who came to pay their respects was the elderly man, who brought along a black mamba bicycle unlike anything most attendees had ever seen.

He had carefully decorated it with front-page newspaper clippings bearing Raila Odinga's image, printed and laminated tributes, and handwritten messages, all arranged into a tower-like structure mounted on the front of the bicycle.
One manila paper fixed to the bike read:
"Remembrance of Raila Amolo, father of the people, jowi, jowi."
Dressed head to toe in white and clutching a whisk, the man danced alongside his bicycle, singing and smiling as he wheeled it around the grounds.
Those who spotted him stopped to watch, many breaking into smiles themselves as they took in the extraordinary display of admiration for the fallen leader.
Online Reactions to the Bicycle Man
The moment drew warm responses online from those who witnessed or heard about his tribute.
Bahati Muyale wrote:
"Celebrating HE Raila Odinga The Bike Man! Came to celebrate Baba."
Johnes James shared:
"Jakom Tinga Agwambo Nyundo Chuma Liet Wuon Piny Baba continue resting in eternal peace."
Fredrick Otieno quipped:
"Mzee was sorted long time ago by Raila he was just coming to revisit."
Vincent Ongoro used the occasion to reflect on the road ahead, listing priorities he hoped leaders would take seriously in 2027, including health system reform, job creation and curbing wasteful government spending on high-end vehicles in county administrations.
The elderly man's tribute stood out in a sea of remembrance as a reminder that grief can take many forms, and that devotion to a leader sometimes finds its fullest expression not in speeches, but in something as simple and personal as a lovingly decorated bicycle.
