Thoothukudi Corporation authorities slapped a fine of ₹10,000 on a furniture showroom after the dengue breeding spots were found on the premises.
Sources in the Corporation said the domestic mosquito breeding checkers, during their door-to-door visit on Tuesday, found mosquito breeding points in the furniture showroom at Balaiyapuram. The premises of the showroom were unclean with garbage strewn around.
After serving notice to the furniture showroom for failing to maintain its premises clean by following waste management regulations, the domestic mosquito breeding checkers found dengue-causing mosquito larva breeding spots on the campus. Hence, the fine was imposed, the sources said.
