ONGWEDIVA – Learners from Oshana Gymnasium say attending the National ICT Summit in Ongwediva has opened their eyes to the opportunities technology offers, from future careers to solutions for Namibia’s development.
For Grade 10 learner Jairo Perdiz, the summit was an opportunity to explore career paths in information and communication technology (ICT) and see how digital innovations are being applied across different sectors.
He said interacting with professionals and visiting exhibition stands had given him a better understanding of the opportunities available in the sector.
Grade 8 learner Carlos Bazunga said he was particularly excited to learn how technology could help young people improve their lives and contribute to the country’s development.
“The summit has helped me understand that technology is not just about computers and phones. It can also help us solve problems and improve our communities,” Bazunga said.
He added that learning about green technology had shown him how innovation could contribute to a more sustainable future.
Other learners visited the New Era Publication Corporation (NEPC)’s exhibition stand, where they learnt about the role of the media and technology in sharing information with the public.
The summit brings together stakeholders to showcase technological innovations, discuss digital transformation and explore how ICT can contribute to Namibia’s economic and social development.
