Martinez collided with an Everton defender during Saturday’s EPL match the Blues won 2-0 at the Toffees Hill Dickinson stadium.
The Argentine goalkeeper was stretchered off after a lengthy delay, and moved to the hospital in Liverpool for further assessment.
Surgery was performed at the hospital following the confirmation of a fractured jaw, and the club assured the goalkeeper of its support during recovery.
