Denpasar, Bali (ANTARA) - Human Rights Minister Natalius Pigai has stressed the need for even fuel oil distribution and adequate stock to help ease queues at gas stations across Bali.

“The availability of several types of fuel oil still needs to be ensured evenly,” Pigai said in Denpasar on Sunday.

Pigai, accompanied by officials from the Human Rights Ministry’s Bali regional office, has monitored fuel queues at several locations in Denpasar City and Badung District since Friday (October 16).

During monitoring on Saturday (October 17), queues at several gas stations, particularly in Denpasar, were no longer as long as they had been the previous day.

According to the ministry, service at one gas station on Sunset Road in Kuta, Badung, had also returned to relatively normal conditions.

Saturday also marked the first day of implementing an odd-even vehicle license plate policy for purchasing Pertalite fuel. Pigai said the changing queue conditions indicated an improvement.

However, he reiterated that fuel availability still required attention. At several gas stations visited by the monitoring team, Pertalite remained available, while Pertamax was still out of stock.

Purchases of Pertalite were still limited to a maximum of three liters for motorcycles and 20 liters for cars.

“Thus, even though queues are starting to come under control, the public still faces limited fuel choices at several locations,” he said.

Pigai stressed that efforts to address fuel distribution and stock problems must prioritize public needs.

He said smooth distribution and adequate supplies were essential to prevent people from continuing to face long queues that could disrupt their work, businesses, and daily activities.

“We hope the public stays calm. The government is present and continues its efforts to address this issue so that fuel availability returns to normal and public needs are met,” he added.
