A group of students and their supporters started their march from Zajecar on Friday, beginning a six-day journey to Belgrade to join a student-led rally scheduled for October 22 at Slavija Square, ahead of Serbia's October 25 parliamentary election.
The group gathered at Liberation Square in Zajecar before setting off. Its first stop was Bor, followed by Zagubica, Petrovac na Mlavi, Pozarevac and Smederevo, before reaching the capital. Stefan Tomic, who is helping coordinate logistics, said around 70 people had registered for the walk, with more expected to join along the way.
Among those taking part was Dimitrije Budujkic, a student at the University of Nis's Faculty of Electronic Engineering, who said the journey was also an opportunity to meet fellow students.
The most demanding stretch was expected on Saturday, between Bor and Zagubica, crossing the Crni Vrh area. The march is part of a wider effort to bring students and citizens from different parts of Serbia to the final campaign rally on Slavija Square.
