The United States Men’s National Team have had the first leg of the Concacaf Nations League Quarterfinals against Haiti moved to domestic soil. Today, Concacaf announced that it had approved a formal request by the Haitian Football Federation to move their home match, originally set to take place on November 14th at Sabina Park, to Nu Stadium in Miami. The match will still take place on November 14th as the first leg of the series, with Haiti serving as the home team.

For years, Haiti has not been able to host matches on home soil due to the political unrest that continues within the country. During the group stage of the Concacaf Nations League earlier this month, Haiti played their two home matches at Sabina Park, Jamaica’s national cricket stadium, in Kingston. Immediately after the group stage concluded, Concacaf announced that stadium would once again serve as Haiti’s home field against the USMNT, a match which would have taken place just hours before Jamaica hosted Mexico at Independence Park just a couple of miles down the road. Now, the match will take place in Miami, which has a large Haitian-American population that the Haitian federation hopes will come out to support them in that crucial opening leg.

The second leg of the quarterfinals will still take place at TQL Stadium in Cincinnati on November 17th. The USMNT designated that stadium for their home leg in September and the details of that match remain unchanged. Now, the USMNT will have both legs on domestic soil and will play in Nu Stadium for the first time since it opened earlier this year.
