Darian DeVries has landed his first in-state commitment as Indiana men’s basketball’s head coach.
Micah Mohler, a guard out of Austin High School in Austin, Indiana, announced his commitment to the program on Tuesday afternoon. He’s a member of the class of 2029 and, as such, is currently unranked by 247Sports. He chose the Hoosiers over early offers from Western Kentucky, Evansville and rival Purdue. Indiana offered Mohler back in June while Purdue’s offer was extended in September, per 247Sports.
As previously stated, he’s the first high school prospect out of Indiana to commit to the Hoosiers under DeVries, with current sophomore Trent Sisley having originally committed under Mike Woodson before re-affirming his commitment during the coaching transition.
Mohler starred immediately this past season as a freshman at Austin, averaging 21.4 points, 6.3 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game.
His commitment gives Indiana an early piece to build on moving forward as DeVries and the rest of the staff look to build out future rosters through the high school recruiting ranks, as he’s stated is his intention.
