Boryung (003850.KS) will hand out treasury shares equally to all of its employees, separate from a broader compensation overhaul that introduces performance-based pay elements. The drugmaker said the move is intended to let employees share in the company's growth, strengthening their sense of ownership and building a foundation for long-term expansion.
According to a filing with the Financial Supervisory Service's electronic disclosure system on the 13th, Boryung will hold a shareholders meeting on the 28th to review a plan to dispose of treasury stock and a proposal to spin off Boryung Pharma Solution.
The disclosed disposal of treasury stock for employee compensation totals 1.774 million shares. Of that, 445,000 shares will be distributed to about 1,780 employees, or 250 shares each.
The distribution draws no distinction by job grade or individual performance. By allotting the same number of shares to every employee, the company aims to establish a culture in which gains from corporate growth are shared collectively.
Boryung had earlier notified staff internally of the share grant policy, which is designed to boost motivation, according to sources. The company expects the structure, under which employees share in management results as shareholders, to improve cohesion and engagement.
The company is also overhauling its compensation system more broadly. It plans to widen opportunities for base pay increases while reinforcing incentives tied to individual and organizational performance. Boryung will also introduce a stock-based compensation program linked to long-term corporate value, part of an effort to attract and retain top talent.
Through the changes, the company intends to raise pay levels for high performers and create an environment that maximizes operational efficiency.
Separately, the agenda for the shareholders meeting includes the plan to spin off Boryung Pharma Solution, which will handle prescription drug sales and marketing, business development and distribution.
