Season champions have been decided in all five classes of the 2026 Inje GT Masters, South Korea's traditional endurance racing series.
Choi Geun-hwan and Kwon Do-yoon of BOBRACING×Ajou Motor College crossed the finish line in second place in the Masters1 class final of the series' fifth and final round at Inje Speedium in Inje, Gangwon State, on the 11th, securing the Masters1 class season championship.
The race was anything but smooth for the pair, who started the final from pole position after topping qualifying. Amid a chaotic mid-race stretch marked by repeated safety car deployments, they slipped as far back as third. They later recovered to second, and as Jung Won-hyung and Kim Jun-soo of Beat R&D, who had led throughout, retired with a mechanical problem, Kim Tae-hwan, Lee In-yong and Tak Beom-jin of Overlimit crossed the line to take the round victory. Choi and Kwon followed in second to take the checkered flag, clinching the overall season title on their own merit.
With that result, Choi and Kwon finished on the podium — a top-three placing — in all five rounds of the season, from the opener to the finale. They were beaten to victory in the first and second rounds early in the season, but took their first win in the third round with a dominant performance that put them eight laps ahead of the runner-up. They followed up with a second straight win in the fourth round after a 0.4-second battle, cementing a lead in the standings that they held to the end.
"I'm very happy to have wrapped up the 2026 season successfully. It was an honor to race with such great senior drivers in the final round," Choi said after taking the season title. His partner Kwon shared the moment, saying, "I'm grateful to my teammates, who believed in me and stayed with me to the end."
Season titles in the other classes went to Jung Jung-jae, Shin Hyung-joo and Choi Yoon-min of Pitstop Motorsport in the Masters N-evo class; Kim Tae-il and Jang Sung-hoon of TEAM05X in the Masters N class; Park Min-je, Jung Yeon-seop and Shin Dong-min of Automobil in the Masters2 class; and Jung Si-hyun and Lee Jae-yong of Bongjwa Racing in the Masters3 class.
The 2027 Inje GT Masters will run over five rounds, opening on April 10 next year. The 2027 season will add a concurrent Lamborghini Super Trofeo series, along with night races and a four-hour endurance race, offering motorsport fans a wider range of attractions.
