Sivaganga district declares holidays for schools, colleges on October 27 and 30

In view of upcoming memorial observances, District Collector P. Akash has announced holidays for schools and colleges across seven unions in the Sivaganga district on October 27 and 30, alongside temporary closures for the district’s prominent archaeological site.

The closure on October 27 marks the memorial day of Marudu Pandiyar brothers, which is observed in Kalaiyarkovil. Following this, schools and colleges will shut down again on October 30 for the birth anniversary and memorial day of freedom fighter and leader Muthuramalinga Thevar, a major annual event held at Pasumpon in the neighbouring Ramanathapuram district.

The holiday directives apply to all schools and colleges situated within seven designated unions: Sivaganga, Devakottai, Tirupattur, Thiruppuvanam, Manamadurai, Kalaiyarkovil, and Ilayangudi.

Additionally, as part of the safety and crowd management measures surrounding the Pasumpon Thevar Jayanthi celebrations, the district administration has announced a two-day closure for the Keeladi Site Museum in Sivaganga district, which will stay shut for visitors on October 29 and 30.
