The funding is aimed at projects that diversify the rural economy and strengthen local commerce and services.
The Association In Loco, which manages the Algarve Central Local Action Group, says the programme is intended to help develop new activities, make better use of local resources and create jobs.
Eligible projects
The grant does not have to be paid back.
It is for projects requiring an investment of between €10,000 and €300,000, and applications close on 23 December.
The scheme only covers certain rural parishes, so applicants should check that their project falls within the eligible area before applying.
Selected areas
That area covers selected parishes in seven municipalities, rather than every parish in each one.
In Albufeira, the eligible parishes are Ferreiras, Guia and Paderne.
In Faro, they are Santa Bárbara de Nexe, Conceição and Estoi, and the Union of Parishes of Faro (Sé and São Pedro).
The eligible locations in Loulé are Almancil, Alte, Ameixial, Boliqueime, Salir, São Clemente, São Sebastião and the Union of Parishes of Querença, Tôr and Benafim.
In Olhão, the scheme covers Pechão and the Union of Parishes of Moncarapacho and Fuseta. It also includes the municipality of São Brás de Alportel, São Bartolomeu de Messines and São Marcos da Serra in Silves, and Cachopo, Santa Catarina da Fonte do Bispo, and the Union of Parishes of Luz de Tavira and Santo Estêvão in Tavira.
The full list is published by In Loco.
Strategic plan
The call is part of Portugal’s Strategic Plan for the Common Agricultural Policy, known as PEPAC.
The PEPAC application notice sets out the documents and conditions for applicants.
In Loco can also answer questions by phone on 289 840 860 or by email at dlbc@in-loco.pt.
