Samyang Group marked its 102nd anniversary with a charity event in which employees baked bread themselves for delivery to vulnerable groups.
Samyang Group said on Oct. 25 that it held the event, titled "Warmth of Sharing, 102 Degrees," at eight Korean Red Cross volunteer centers in the greater Seoul area on Oct. 23. About 200 employees, including senior management, took part and baked four types of bread, including two products made with Frepang, Samyang Corp's frozen dough brand. The bread made that day, together with bread made from Samyang Corp's croffle dough through the end of this month, will add up to about 4,000 items to be delivered to vulnerable groups in the greater Seoul area.
Ahead of the baking drive, the group ran a blood donation bus and a campaign to collect blood donation certificates. The campaign, open to employees from Sept. 4 through Oct. 23, gathered more than 550 certificates, which will be passed on through the Korean Red Cross to patients in need of transfusions and to social welfare organizations.
Kim Yun, chairman of Samyang Holdings (000070.KS), said in his anniversary address that "with geopolitical risks, crude oil turmoil, K-shaped economic polarization and a widening AI gap, intense efforts to respond flexibly to the changes of the times and secure competitiveness are spreading across industry." He added, "At times like this, I ask you to take to heart the group's emphasis on business upgrades centered on global and specialty operations, management focused on stable cash flow, and AI transformation, and to lead the group's change and innovation."
