MDS Tech (086960.KQ) said on the 21st that it will supply a "Jetson full package" — built around Nvidia's Jetson modules along with systems and sensors from Nvidia's global partners — to a South Korean company developing a humanoid robot for home use.
The contract is worth about 4 billion won ($2.8 million), the largest single-project order the company has won since launching its artificial intelligence business unit. MDS Tech has supported the project since its development phase with advanced technology for AI computing platforms based on Nvidia's Jetson Orin. It also took part in upgrading the development environment to the next-generation Nvidia Jetson Thor.
MDS Tech has made physical AI a main growth pillar of its next-generation business since early this year and has been expanding its footprint in the field. In April, it began working with Seoul National University to train specialists in physical AI and robotics. Equipment provided by MDS Tech is now used in the creative engineering design course at the university's Department of Mechanical Engineering. The company also takes part in the teaching, supporting students' physical AI and robotics development projects as part of the industry-academia partnership.
In July, it signed an exclusive distribution agreement with SZ Sensing, an Nvidia partner in robotics and vision. The company has also broadened its business into ultra-high-speed data connectivity for robotics and autonomous driving through a partnership with Unicon, a specialist in contactless connection solutions.
