Hindustan Zinc reported a more than twofold rise in quarterly profit on Monday, helped by higher zinc and silver prices and increased production.
The Vedanta group company has operations spanning the mining, processing and refining of zinc, lead and silver, as well as wind power generation.
Consolidated net profit stood at Rs 6,412 crore ($675.5 million) for the three months ended September 30, against Rs 2,649 crore a year earlier.
Net profit margin climbed to 42 per cent from 31 per cent a year ago.
The results come as zinc prices have surged on supply disruptions and expectations of a global market deficit.
