Tottenham Hotspur manager Roberto De Zerbi has praised Mohammed Kudus following the Ghanaian's contribution to his side's 3-1 victory over Coventry City, which secured their first Premier League win of the season.
Kudus provided the assist for James Maddison's opening goal as Spurs claimed all three points against the newly promoted side on Monday night.
The Ghana international operated in an unfamiliar position but demonstrated his attacking versatility, helping Tottenham establish control of the contest.
De Zerbi was pleased with the midfielder's performance, particularly after the break, when he felt the team had greater opportunities to find space and make an impact in attack.
"Kudus also, I liked his performance, and especially in the second half, because in the first half I think it was too difficult to find the space," he added.
The praise comes as Kudus continues to rebuild his momentum after an extended spell out of action through injury. The Coventry match was only his second start since January, highlighting the importance of his return to regular involvement in the team.
Despite the disruption caused by his time on the sidelines, the former West Ham United player has already contributed to Tottenham's attacking efforts this season.
He has made six Premier League appearances and registered two assists, underlining his ability to create opportunities for his team-mates.
His latest contribution against Coventry offered another indication of the qualities he can bring to De Zerbi's side, particularly his ability to operate in different attacking roles.
Kudus is primarily known as an attacking midfielder, but his performance in a less familiar position showed that he can adapt to the demands of the manager's tactical approach.
His assist for Maddison's opener proved significant as Tottenham sought to secure their first league victory of the campaign. The 3-1 result provided a positive outcome for De Zerbi as he continues to shape the team's performances.
For Kudus, the match also represented an opportunity to build on his return from injury and strengthen his position within the squad.
The Ghanaian's versatility could prove valuable as Tottenham navigate the demands of the Premier League season. His capacity to create chances and contribute in different areas of the attack gives the manager another option when selecting his starting line-up.
De Zerbi's assessment of the midfielder's display, particularly his improvement in the second half, suggests that the manager was encouraged by what he saw against Coventry.
With six league appearances and two assists already recorded this season, Kudus will be looking to maintain his fitness and build consistency as he seeks to make a greater contribution to Tottenham's campaign.
The victory over Coventry gives Spurs their first league win of the season, while Kudus' assist and the manager's positive comments provide an encouraging sign for the Ghana international as he continues his return to action.
