Vietnamese technology conglomerate FPT Corporation (HOSE: FPT) and the Niels Bohr Institute (NBI) at the University of Copenhagen have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish bilateral research and workforce development initiatives in quantum science and technology. The agreement was formalized in Copenhagen during the Vietnam–Denmark Business Forum, held in the presence of Vietnamese President Tô Lâm and His Majesty King Frederik X of Denmark.
Under the framework, FPT and NBI will collaborate on joint quantum research programs, facilitate academic exchanges for doctoral researchers, university faculty, and technical specialists, and conduct joint scientific workshops. The initiative aims to accelerate Vietnam’s national quantum computing roadmap by connecting domestic technology talent with European quantum research infrastructure.

Connecting Southeast Asian Software Engineering with European Quantum Research
The collaboration comes amid rising international engagement across Southeast Asia to build foundational quantum software, algorithm development, and hardware maintenance capabilities. By aligning with the Niels Bohr Institute—which anchors Denmark’s national ambition to develop a universal fault-tolerant quantum computer by 2034—FPT seeks to position its 44,000-strong engineering workforce to deploy hybrid classical-quantum solutions across manufacturing, healthcare, and enterprise software domains.
For Denmark, the MoU deepens research connections with Southeast Asia’s rapidly growing technology sector while supporting the bilateral Comprehensive Strategic Partnership established between the two nations during the State visit.
