KUALA LUMPUR: All educational institutions under the Education Ministry in Negri Sembilan, Pahang, Selangor, and Putrajaya will operate as usual tomorrow.
In separate statements today, the respective state education departments and the Putrajaya Federal Territory Education Department encouraged pupils, teachers, support staff and other school personnel to wear face masks.
Parents and guardians concerned about the effects of the haze on their children's health may keep them at home, provided they inform the school of their absence.
In Negri Sembilan, the state education department said all outdoor activities, including physical education, co-curricular and sports activities, camps, celebrations, assemblies and open-hall events, must stop if the Air Pollutant Index (API) exceeds 100.
It added that any decision to close educational institutions due to the haze would be subject to the ministry's criteria and guidelines, based on API readings and prevailing conditions.
Meanwhile, the education departments in Pahang and Selangor, along with the Putrajaya Federal Territory Education Department, said all outdoor activities had been suspended due to the haze.
Parents and guardians were also advised to obtain updates through official communication channels.
According to the Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS) portal, 34 areas recorded unhealthy API readings as of 9am today, with Johan Setia in Selangor recording the highest reading at 192.
