In its request, NIS emphasised its importance in ensuring the continuity of fuel supplies to the domestic market, stressing that the regular operation of the Pančevo Oil Refinery is essential for maintaining Serbia's energy stability.
The company also thanked domestic and international institutions supporting efforts to ensure its uninterrupted operations.
US licence set to expire on October 30
The US Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) extended NIS's operating licence for another month in late September, allowing the company to continue operations until October 30.
At the time, Serbia's caretaker Minister of Mining and Energy, Dubravka Đedović Handanović, welcomed the extension, describing it as good news for Serbia, particularly ahead of the winter season.
She also confirmed that discussions were continuing between OFAC and Hungarian energy company MOL regarding the potential acquisition of the majority Russian stake in NIS.
