It's not good news, but it looked like it could be a lot worse when it happened.
Nuggets wing Julian Strawther is out indefinitely and will be re-evaluated in six weeks due to a left knee sprain, the team announced on Sunday.
The injury happened in the third quarter of a preseason game against the Clippers Wednesday. Strawther was handling the ball and pivoted to keep it from being stolen when his foot came out from under him, and his left knee bent awkwardly. Strawther stayed on the ground for a couple of minutes in obvious pain, covering his face with a towel, before being helped back to the locker room.
Strawther, 24, averaged 7.2 points per game in about 15 minutes a night last season, but with Peyton Watson gone from Denver, Strawther was expected to see an increase in minutes and opportunities off the bench this season. Now all that is on hold in the short term.
