Robert Saleh attempted to give an explanation about the situation around Jordan Elliott after the defensive tackle was released by the Tennessee Titans following an incident involving a firearm, but it appears not everyone is on board with the head coach’s words.
FOX Sports host Rob Parker has hit out at Saleh for his comments regarding the incident, suggesting that there is no way that a positive word can be said about the entire fiasco.
“I could not disagree more with Robert Saleh…if you are going to go to bat for that young man why is he off the team then? Why don’t you get him the help and rehabilitate him and give him another opportunity?” Parker said on FOX Sports Radio.
“To act like someone going to their car to get a gun is not criminal, is not scary, to put everybody at risk, and to make this impassioned plea…and that we shouldn’t have a knee-jerk reaction…really?”
Robert Saleh’s Explanation of the Jordan Elliott Incident
Robert Saleh attempted to cast Jordan Elliott in some positive light after the entire incident had unfolded at the Titans facility.
“Unfortunately, rules are rules with regard to guns on property, and sometimes it’s far greater than the knee-jerk reaction of kicking somebody when they’re down,” he said, as also reported by the National Herald.
“He’s a good man. Made a terrible lapse in judgment that I recognize as a call for help more than a criminal act,” Saleh went on. “He’s never committed a crime in his entire life and he pulled a gun, in the parking lot.”
Regardless of Saleh’s explanation, the Titans have already made the decision to release the player and it remains to be seen whether any other team in the future will take a chance on Jordan Elliott.
