Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has increased the monthly salaries of cleaners at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso, from N15,000 to N80,000.
The increase was announced during a meeting with stakeholders at the hospital on Thursday, according to a statement issued on Friday by the governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Sulaimon Olanrewaju.
The statement said: “Governor Makinde approved an increase in the monthly salary of cleaners at the Teaching Hospital from ₦15,000 to ₦80,000, aligning their pay with the national minimum wage.”
The decision followed an appeal by the cleaners, who met the governor during his visit to the facility.
Makinde also appealed to striking hospital workers to give his administration an opportunity to address their grievances, urging them to embrace dialogue to resolve the dispute.
He said: “Initially, I didn’t want to respond to those who are on strike.
