Uzbekistan and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) have agreed to expand cooperation in football development, including youth and women’s championships, coach training and the development of football academies.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev received AFC President Sheikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa on October 17 to discuss further cooperation with the continental governing body.
The meeting addressed Uzbekistan’s efforts to develop amateur and professional football, modernize sports infrastructure and establish training facilities. Sheikh Salman praised the work being carried out in these areas.

The sides emphasized the importance of jointly developing football academies and promoting initiatives to involve more young people in the sport under the “A Football Pitch in Every Mahalla” program.
They also agreed to expand practical cooperation in organizing major football events, including women’s and youth championships, providing methodological support for training players and coaches, and identifying talented footballers.
