By Breaking Belize News Staff: A 19-year-old Belize City man who pleaded guilty to possessing an unlicensed Glock pistol, resulting in the withdrawal of a firearm charge against his older sister, has been sentenced to two years in prison.
Aaron Ayren Pitter, of Pitter Street, was sentenced on Thursday, October 15, before a Magistrate in Court #5 at the Belize City Magistrate’s Court. His sentence was ordered to take effect from August 18, 2026, the date he pleaded guilty.
The conviction stems from a police search conducted on August 17 at a residence on Pitter Street, where officers from the Violence Prevention and Enforcement Team discovered a Glock 17 Gen 4 9mm pistol wrapped inside a pair of blue short pants hidden in a hole beside a bathtub.
The firearm was fitted with a black magazine and red extension, but police confirmed that the gun and magazine contained no ammunition.
According to police, Pitter arrived home while officers were conducting the search and admitted that the firearm belonged to him, telling officers, “Da feh me, big man. I have knowledge that was there.”
Pitter and his 20-year-old sister, Gregoria Veronica Pitter, were initially jointly charged with keeping a firearm without a gun licence. However, after Aaron accepted responsibility and pleaded guilty, prosecutors withdrew the charge against his sister, allowing her to walk free.
As previously reported by Breaking Belize News, the Magistrate initially encouraged Pitter to seek legal advice before accepting his guilty plea, but the teenager insisted on taking responsibility for the weapon so his sister could go free.
During Thursday’s sentencing, Pitter offered no mitigation. Although he had initially faced a possible five-year prison term, the Magistrate imposed a two-year sentence, retroactive to August 18.
