Grayscale Opens Direct Crypto-to-ETF Transfers Across 10 Funds
Digital asset manager Grayscale is giving wealthy crypto holders a new way to put their digital assets to work without first converting them into dollars. Announced on Wednesday, the investment giant’s expanded in-kind subscription program allows eligible investors to exchange cryptocurrency directly for shares in 10 investment products.
The catch? Entry isn’t cheap. Minimum investments range from approximately $80,300 for its Solana Staking ETF to $364,800 for its Bitcoin Mini Trust ETF, placing the opportunity firmly in higher-capital territory.
From Crypto Wallets to Wall Street Portfolios
Instead of selling bitcoin (BTC), ether (ETH), or other supported tokens, qualifying investors can contribute the underlying assets directly and receive shares representing exposure through Grayscale’s investment vehicles.
The arrangement eliminates the need for an intermediate cash transaction and potentially reduces trading costs. It also shifts custody responsibilities away from individual investors and into institutional structures.
“As digital assets mature, investors are seeking more secure and efficient ways to manage their crypto holdings,” remarked Steve Vanourny, Grayscale’s head of index. The executive also pointed to the potential benefits of using investment shares for collateral, margin arrangements, and estate planning.
Ten Funds, Six-Figure Entry Requirements
Grayscale’s eligible lineup spans bitcoin, ether, XRP, dogecoin, avalanche, chainlink, hyperliquid, solana, sui, and zcash.
Approximate minimum investments as of Oct. 20, 2026, according to Grayscale:
| Product | Minimum |
| Bitcoin Mini Trust (BTC) | $364,800 |
| Zcash ETF (ZCSH) | $322,600 |
| Hyperliquid Staking ETF (HYPG) | $282,600 |
| XRP Trust ETF (GXRP) | $257,000 |
| Avalanche Staking ETF (GAVA) | $235,800 |
| Ethereum Staking Mini ETF (ETH) | $232,300 |
| Sui Staking ETF (GSUI) | $148,400 |
| Chainlink Trust ETF (GLNK) | $107,900 |
| Dogecoin Trust ETF (GDOG) | $95,550 |
| Solana Staking ETF (GSOL) | $80,300 |
Institutional Access Comes With Conditions
While the proposition sounds appealing, its steep entry requirements put it well beyond the reach of the average investor. Investors must arrange primary-market subscriptions through an authorized participant or an intermediary connected to one. Facilitator fees, product availability, and other restrictions apply. Once converted into fund shares, positions can potentially fit into brokerage accounts, retirement portfolios, and conventional lending arrangements, although eligibility varies.
The broader proposition is intriguing: Investors can surrender direct custody of their crypto while retaining market exposure through regulated investment vehicles. Whether that trade-off makes financial sense depends on costs, taxes, and the value investors place on controlling their own assets.
