While the Golden State Warriors got positive news regarding the status of Stephen Curry, another member of their backcourt is dealing with an injury ahead of Wednesday's regular-season opener against the Los Angeles Lakers.
Brandin Podziemski missed practice on Monday and is now listed as questionable for Golden State's first game on Wednesday in Los Angeles with lower back soreness.

Kerr said Podz did not practice today and is questionable for Wednesday’s opener because of lower back soreness. Kerr said the injury occurred in Sunday’s practice before the open part in front of the crowd at Chase.

Podziemski is expected to be the started alongside Curry in Golden State's backcourt. If the fourth-year guard is unavailable, De'Anthony Melton, Brandon Williams and Gary Payton II could have an expanded role in Steve Kerr's backcourt rotation.
Podziemski has been very durable throughout his career, playing less than 74 games only once through three seasons. The former Santa Clara Bronco was one of 18 players to play all 82 regular-season games during the 2025-26 campaign.
During his third season, Podziemski averaged 13.8 points on 45.5% shooting from the field while grabbing 5.1 rebounds and dishing 3.7 assists in 28.5 minutes per game.
The Warriors will open the season on Wednesday against Luka Doncic and the Lakers at 7 p.m. at Crypto.com arena in downtown Los Angeles.
