PETALING JAYA: A 21-year-old female student was found dead this morning at Universiti Sains Malaysia in Gelugor, Penang, after she is believed to have fallen from the hostel building.
Timur Laut police chief Abdul Rozak Muhammad said the student, who was staying at the hostel, was found by a cleaner at about 7.25am.
"The woman was found lying on her back on the concrete ground below the hostel block and was pronounced dead at the scene," he said in a statement.
Police were informed about the incident by the university at around 8.40am.
Initial investigations found no signs of foul play, although several external injuries believed to have been caused by a fall from a height were discovered on her body.
Her body was sent to Penang Hospital for a post-mortem and the case is being investigated as sudden death.
