Joshua Kimmich will be unavailable for FC Bayern's Champions League home match against Arsenal on Wednesday night (21:00/DAZN) due to a "death in his immediate family". The Munich club announced the news this morning, adding: "Everyone at FC Bayern stands by Joshua Kimmich and extends their deepest condolences to him".
At the same time, the club asked "on behalf of the family" that "their privacy and grief be respected, and that further inquiries and reporting therefore be avoided". Kimmich had already missed Tuesday's final training session. Bayern had initially cited "personal reasons".
In addition to Kimmich, Germany's record champions will also be without forward Michael Olise, who is suspended.
