Traffic is extremely heavy at the Kapitan Andreevo and Lesovo border checkpoints for outbound trucks heading to Türkiye, the Border Police reported. Traffic is normal at all other border checkpoints and crossings along the country’s borders with Greece, North Macedonia, Serbia and Romania. Temporary traffic arrangements remain in place at the Danube Bridge near Ruse due to the installation of drainage facilities. The restriction requiring traffic to pass through a single lane will not apply on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
Travellers between Sofia and Botevgrad should allow an additional 20 minutes for their journey due to traffic passing through a single tube of the Topli Dol Tunnel on the Hemus Motorway. A diversion via the Arabakonak Pass is also expected to open within the next 20 days, Regional Development Minister Ivan Shishkov said.
Two people have died and 19 have been injured in 17 serious road accidents across the country over the past 24 hours, Traffic Police report.
