Manchester United suffered a humiliating 4-1 defeat to Como in their UEFA Champions League (UCL) league phase match in Italy.
The Red Devils were on a run of six matches without a win, and Como gave Michael Carrick’s side a big helping hand to the seventh with a spanking at the Giuseppe Sinigaglia stadium.
Nico Paz led the humiliation with two goals, with further goals from Anastasios Douvikas and Jakobo Ramon putting Man United to the sword.
Joshua Zirkzee scored Man United’s consolation- his first of the season and year 2026 for the club on a night
Matias de Ligt returned to defence after 11 months.
Coach Cesc Fabregas had memorable games as a player against United, and he was treated to a historic win against the poor, lethargic, and confused visitors.
The hosts took the lead with their first attack on three minutes, Paz was afforded space and the Argentine curled into the corner for 1-0.
The visitors’ defence collapsed in the second half and Como capitalized with Douvikas slamming a shot into the net to double the lead before Paz pounced on a Carlos Baleba error to slot home the third.
Ramon headed Como’s fourth to seal the big win as the club became only the second Italian team since Lazio in 1997 to win their first two home matches in the UCL history. It is Como’s second win of the league phase and they are on six points from three matches.
Elsewhere, Victor Osimhen scored his first UCL goal of the season to ensure Galatasaray secured a 4-2 win at his former club LOSC Lille.
The 27-year-old timed his run to perfection to receive a pass and slot the ball beyond the goalkeeper into the net for the fourth goal.
The talismanic striker did not celebrate out of respect, and received a standing ovation after ensuring the Turkish League champions secured their first win of the UCL season.
