The Allahabad High Court has directed the Uttar Pradesh government to investigate whether a school in Azamgarh and a coaching academy operating under the same management were allegedly showing students as enrolled in a dummy school without their knowledge.
The court also asked the government to examine the management's alleged links with Shahana International School in Jaunpur, where petitioner Abu Huzaifa was shown as a registered Class XI student under the Central Board of Secondary Education system despite his claim that he had never taken admission there.
Justice Siddharth Nandan directed the authority concerned to submit the inquiry report and a personal affidavit by November 2. The principal and manager of the institution have also been asked to remain present at the next hearing.
The court was hearing a petition filed by Huzaifa against the Uttar Pradesh government and other respondents. His counsel submitted that Huzaifa had never been a student of Shahana International School.
In his rejoinder affidavit, Huzaifa said he had neither applied for admission to the school nor attended classes or paid any fees there.
He also disputed the CBSE registration record cited by the respondents, pointing out that it did not include an admission application, fee receipt, identity card, attendance record or his signature.
Huzaifa said he had been staying at a hostel in Phadgudia and had appeared for assessments at another institution from July 5, 2025, to March 2026.
He said Shahana International School's records showed his admission date as August 12, 2025, by which time he was already appearing for assessments and paying fees at the other institution.
After examining the records, the court observed in its October 7 order that the material suggested students preparing for competitive examinations might be receiving coaching at one institution while being shown as admitted to another school without their knowledge.
The matter will be heard next on November 2, when the inquiry report and personal affidavit are to be filed and the institution's principal and manager are required to appear before the court.
