KUALA LUMPUR: Police are appealing for witnesses to an accident involving a motorcycle and a lorry at KM13.1 of the Cheras-Kajang Highway yesterday, which claimed the life of the 23-year-old motorcyclist.
Kajang police chief Naazron Abdul Yusof said a report on the accident was received at about 6pm.
He said preliminary investigations found that the victim, who was travelling from Kuala Lumpur towards Kajang, was believed to have lost control before falling onto the road.
"The lorry which was moving straight ahead could not avoid the victim in time and ran him over, causing his death at the scene," he said in a statement today.
He said the lorry driver has yet to lodge a police report.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless or dangerous driving leading to death.
Naazron urged witnesses or anyone with information to come forward and assist the investigation, including members of the public with dashcam footage or videos of the accident.
"They can contact the investigating officer, Nur Faezah Zakria, at 012-326 8496," he said.
