KWAZULU-NATAL — National Coloured Congress (NCC) leader Fadiel Adams has claimed that the Political Killings Task Team (PKTT) is intentionally dragging out legal proceedings against him following his pre-trial hearing at the Pinetown Magistrate's Court on October 16, 2026. Adams is facing counts of fraud and defeating the administration of justice.
According to Eyewitness News, State advocate claims indicate Adams falsely cited official parliamentary business to gain authorized access to Westville Correctional Centre during 2024 and 2025. Investigations suggest these visits served to interrogate prisoners implicated in prominent homicide dossiers without proper clearance.
Critique of Investigating Team
Addressing journalists after the proceedings, Adams launched a fierce broadside against the PKTT, arguing the unit lacks a substantive case and relies on procedural delays.
"It's the PKTT being the PKTT. They cite security concerns in court. Why didn't they notify us if there was any security concern?" Adams told reporters.
"Was I supposed to get shot on the way to court if there's a security concern? They're lying, man. They're playing a delaying game."
The NCC parliamentarian argued that moving the trial between different jurisdictions represents a strategy to suppress critical evidentiary materials. "This is why they're now moving my case to yet another court because they don't want the nonsense in the documents on the table," he declared, contending that authorities initially sought to secure long-term remand without bail.
Jurisdictional Escalation
Outlining the procedural history, Adams highlighted that the docket had been elevated to a regional court before being remanded back to a lower court.
"They transferred this thing to regional court like it was a murder trial. The regional court just told them this doesn't belong in front of us; send it to a lower court. I mean, it's embarrassing if you are the NPA," he stated.
Adams concluded that impending testimonies could uncover alleged official improprieties within senior police management, while expressing skepticism regarding any corrective intervention from National Prosecuting Authority leadership.
