SINGAPORE: The Titans are set to storm Marina Bay Sands, with Attack on Titan: The Musical making its Southeast Asian debut at the Sands Theatre on April 15, 2027.
The stage adaptation of Hajime Isayama's hit Japanese manga will run until May 2, marking its very first Asian engagement outside Japan.
Prior to its Singapore run, the musical captivated audiences across Osaka, Tokyo, and New York between 2023 and 2025.
Presented by Base Entertainment Asia, the production focuses on the early chapters of Isayama's original 2009 manga.
The story follows the remnants of humanity as they hide behind giant walls to survive the threat of massive humanoid creatures known as Titans.
Since its debut, the global franchise has expanded to include an anime series, a live-action film, spin-off novels, and video games.
The show is billed as a "2.5-dimensional" musical—a popular Japanese genre that brings the flat worlds of manga and anime to life on stage by blending live performance, musical theatre, and cutting-edge technology.
Steering the production is a creative team from Japan, including director Go Ueki, writer Masafumi Hata, music supervisor Ken The 390, and lyricist Kaori Miura.
Fans can look forward to brand-new songs, as well as a nod to Guren No Yumiya, the iconic opening theme from the anime's first season.
In a press statement, Base Entertainment Asia chief executive Chantal Prudhomme described the show as an "extraordinary leap from manga to the musical stage".
She added that it offers fans another way into a world they know well, gives newcomers to Japanese entertainment a window into an unfamiliar theatrical tradition, and lets musical theatre lovers discover a different style of storytelling.
