Can ‘Jailer 2’ surpass Vijay’s ‘Jana Nayagan’ opening record?

The opening-day performance of ‘Jailer 2’ is being watched closely as fans and trade observers assess whether Rajinikanth’s latest outing can challenge major Tamil cinema box office benchmarks.

Vijay’s ‘Jana Nayagan’ has been cited in reports with an opening-day figure of Rs. 106 crore, setting a high bar for the comparison. However, the two films’ figures must be compared on the same basis—India net, India gross or worldwide gross—before a record claim can be established.

‘Jailer 2’ receives positive reactions from fans

Early audience reactions have highlighted Rajinikanth’s screen presence, the action sequences and Anirudh Ravichander’s background score. Hrithik Roshan’s reported cameo has also attracted attention, with viewers discussing his appearance on social media.

While the initial response appears enthusiastic, audience reactions alone do not establish the film’s final box office performance. The coming updates will show whether the early momentum translates into the substantial opening predicted for the sequel, particularly given that it has released on a working day.
