Samson Dingle (Sam Hall) is heading back to Emmerdale after his prison sentence and it’s kind of a big deal for Lydia (Karen Blick) and Sam Dingle (James Hooton).
They’re the only ones excited as most of the village still hates Samson, but at least Lydia has her bestie Kim Tate (Claire King) to rely on and be as enthusiastic as her. You’d think.
Samson was imprisoned for falsely accusing Matty (Ash Palmisciano) of stabbing him and having Matty sent to jail. It stands to reason that he’ll return to big beef with Moira (Natalie J Robb), who’s already aired her disgust that Samson is returning to the family home.
Matty moved into the Dingle farm after things didn’t work out with him living at Emmerdale Farm. It caused a rift with Lydia and Sam as the room given to Matty was the one earmarked for Samson.

But as far as Moira is concerned, Matty trumps Samson any day after what he did to him.
Lydia is desperately worried about Samson and the life he’s coming back to knowing it’ll be an uphill slope.
Thank god she has her old pal Kim to rely on. She shares her concerns for her stepson’s return, and it seems Kim has the solution by offering him a job.
Lydia is absolutely thrilled – it’s a huge relief to know that Samson can begin to have some semblance of a normal life and bring home a wage, knowing very few other people would hire him with his record. Lydia can finally start to sleep easy at night.
But Lydia is crushed to realise she’s got the wrong end of the stick. Turns out, she and Kim were talking at crossed purposes, and Kim has no intention of supporting Samson’s reintegration.
Lydia is gutted at the lack of support from her BFF and she’s quite frankly hurt that the woman she’d do anything for won’t do this one thing to help.
Sam is gutted too and pours all his energy into finding Samson a job as quickly as he can. But is there too much water under the bridge for Samson to be accepted back?
