PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has distanced his party from Imran Khan’s official X account. He told the Islamabad High Court that PTI does not claim ownership of the account. The statement came during a hearing on a petition seeking to close the former prime minister’s account. The court has given the party additional time to submit its formal response.
Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir heard the petition at the Islamabad High Court. Barrister Gohar appeared before the judge during the proceedings. Lawyers Khalid Yousaf Chaudhry and Shamsa Kiyani also attended the hearing. Officials from the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency were present as well.

The petition concerns Imran Khan’s official X account and a request for its closure. During the hearing, the judge told Gohar that the court had not summoned him personally. He explained that the party could have submitted its position through a written response. However, Gohar chose to appear before the court.
Barrister Gohar maintained that PTI did not claim the account as its own. He also asked the court to allow more time because circumstances had changed. He assured the judge that the party would prepare and submit its response. The request focused on securing enough time to provide a detailed written explanation.
The court considered Gohar’s request and agreed to extend the time for his response. The judge directed him to submit the party’s position in writing. This will allow PTI to present its stance formally in the ongoing proceedings. The hearing did not conclude the case concerning the account’s closure.

Gohar then requested additional time to prepare a comprehensive reply for the court. The judge accepted his request and allowed the party to submit its explanation later. The proceedings therefore moved forward without a final decision on the petition. The court’s order gives PTI further time to clarify its position.
The Islamabad High Court adjourned the case until November 23. Barrister Gohar is expected to submit the party’s written response within the time granted by the court. The petition seeking the closure of Imran Khan’s official X account remains pending. The next hearing will provide an opportunity for further proceedings on the matter.
