Luciano Spalletti will be hoping Juventus can respond positively when they return to action following their disappointing defeat to Lazio at the weekend. The Juventus manager has little time to dwell on that setback, with another fixture offering his team an immediate opportunity to show improvement and restore confidence.
The loss exposed weaknesses in the Bianconeri’s current performances, raising further questions about their ability to compete consistently. Juventus will know they cannot afford to continue struggling, especially when opponents are finding ways to exploit the spaces they leave behind. A stronger response is needed if they are to put the weekend’s disappointment behind them.
Despite their domestic difficulties, Juventus have enjoyed a more encouraging campaign in Europe. They have maintained a 100 per cent record in the Europa League since the start of the season, giving them reason to believe they can produce a much better performance in their next match.
Spalletti looks to turn the page
The Bianconeri will now turn their attention to Rennes, hoping to channel their frustration into a determined display. Juventus have the quality to respond, but they must show greater discipline and avoid allowing their opponents to take advantage of the vulnerabilities exposed against Lazio.
Rennes will not necessarily make life easy for the Bianconeri. The Ligue 1 side could look to exploit any lingering uncertainty in the Juventus team, particularly if the hosts struggle to control the game and leave spaces for their opponents to attack.
Spalletti, however, appears pleased that his players have another opportunity to get back on track. Speaking via Calciomercato, the Juventus manager stressed the importance of improving their approach while welcoming the chance to return to action quickly.
“We have to be ready to play on the open pitch, a game that will turn things around. We need to improve in this respect, we have highlighted that we leave spaces, but playing so often gives us the opportunity to overturn the idea they have made about us. We are happy to play again.”

Juventus seek a response against Rennes
Spalletti’s comments suggest that Juventus are aware of the problems affecting their performances and understand the need to address them. The manager has identified the spaces his team leaves open as an area requiring improvement, making defensive organisation an important consideration ahead of the next fixture.
The opportunity to play again so soon could help Juventus move beyond their disappointing weekend result. Rather than allowing frustration to linger, they can use the European match to demonstrate their ability to respond under pressure.
However, a positive result will depend on more than motivation alone. Juventus must limit the openings available to Rennes while making better use of their own attacking opportunities. A convincing performance would provide a welcome boost after the defeat to Lazio and help the Bianconeri regain momentum.
